Hong Kong is a culinary place and whether you are going to enjoy Disneyland or going to enjoy the food, you will have a wonderful time. My suggestion is to go and enjoy both together. One way to do this is to have a sumptuous feast at the Crystal Lotus Restaurant in the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel.
Inside Crystal Lotus Restaurant
This is a lunch that you will remember with fondness for years to come. To get there, just go to the Disneyland Hotel, you don’t have to be a guest. Since this is Hong Kong, you can expect to find some of the best dim sum in the world.
Chilled Mickey’s Green Tea Jelly
Crystal Lotus has won numerous awards and features food from all the major regions of China including Sechuan, Shanghai, Guangdong, and Beijing. The Dim Sum is unique here because it is all about Disney. What does that mean?
Fried-rice with Tasmanian Crabmeat
Well, the food is fun. From Piggy Steamed Buns (with piggy faces) to Mickey shaped carrots, you will see many of your favorite characters in the food, but don’t worry, it not only looks great, it tastes great too.
Monkey Head Dumplings
The Mickey Seafood Glutinous Pancake makes my mouth water when I think of it and the hot chili dip was the perfect sauce to accompany the various buns and treats. The wok fried shrimp and root vegetables were the best I’ve ever had and the seafood soup was really good, I wish I can find a recipe of that. I could hear other diners delighting in the tastes.
Red-braised Pork Loin stuffed in Whole Chinese Pear
In addition there are magnificent traditional foods like Red Braised Pork Loin stuffed in Whole Chinese Pears and Fried Rice with Tasmanian Crab Meat. How’s that for great fusion?
Pig Head Shaped Dimsum
The chefs at Crystal Lotus are inspired by great recipes and have the creativity to make presentations that are way outside of the box. This is dim sum, but it’s also like nothing you’ve ever experienced.
Roasted Suckling Pig with Cucumber and Sweetened Paste
This was not only delicious traditional and fusion food, but it was also very very fun. With Mickey shapes, chicken little heads (not chicken heads) and plenty of Mickey shaped delights.
The tastes, the smells, the visuals and the unique combinations.Mmmmm. I must go back soon.
