Cebu Pacific permanently cuts fares by as much as 75%

Takes lead in reducing fuel and insurance surcharge

Philippines’ low-fare leader Cebu Pacific (CEB), will reduce its year-round ‘Go Lite’ fare on most of its Asian routes and some domestic services starting October 15, 2008.

The lowest year round one-way ‘Go Lite’ fare from Manila to Ho Chi Minh was cut by 75%, from P1,799 to as low as P299. The Manila-Kota Kinabalu one-way ‘Go Lite’ fare was also lowered from P799 to P299.

There will also be a 50% ‘Go Lite’ fare reduction for the Manila-Macau service, from P1,799 to P799.

The Manila-Bangkok and Manila-Kuala Lumpur ‘Go Lite’ fare now starts from P1,299, down from P1,799. The Manila-Jakarta, Davao-Hong Kong, Davao-Singapore, and Cebu-Singapore ‘Go Lite’ fare was marked down from P2,799 to P1,799.

The Clark-Bangkok and Clark-Hong Kong one-way ‘Go Lite’ fare was slashed by 50% and 33%, respectively. Fare for these services dropped to P799 one-way. Meanwhile, the one-way ‘Go Lite’ fare for Cebu-Hong Kong was also reduced from P2,299 to P1,799

International ‘Go Lite’ fares are exclusive of applicable surcharges and government taxes. Passengers with check-in bags will just add P200 upon booking.

In the domestic market, Cebu Pacific also reduced its lowest year round ‘Go Lite’ fare from Manila to Laoag and Tuguegarao by 17%, from P988 to P788 all-in. The Manila-Cebu and Manila-Iloilo ‘Go Lite’ fare now starts from P988 all-in, down from P1,188.

The Manila-Puerto Princesa, Cebu-Puerto Princesa, and Cebu-Clark one-way ‘Go Lite’ fare was also lowered to P1,688.

Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific vice president for marketing and distribution, said, “We are doing our best to provide every Juan affordable fares that will allow them travel to new and exciting destinations. More importantly, our low fares will help our country draw more tourists to visit the Philippines.”

Following the recent drop of oil prices in the world market, Cebu Pacific has once again taken the lead and reduced its fuel and insurance surcharge for domestic flights by P200 and as much as USD10 for most of its international routes.

Iyog emphasized, “We hope that other airlines will follow this initiative as this really benefits the Philippine air travel industry.”

Iyog concluded, “We encourage the public to book through Cebu Pacific’s website, www.cebupacificair.com, call the reservations hotline (632) 70-20-888, or visit their travel agents.”
